FAQ’S

Don’t stress! We have you covered!

Why should I do yoga?

Yoga can make you feel better from head to toe. Who doesn’t want that? Not only can you gain strength, flexibility and balance from yoga, scientific evidence shows that yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss and quality sleep.

Coming to a yoga class is very intimidating, will everyone be watching me?

This is one of our most common questions! The answer is two-fold. Seasoned yogis rarely pay attention to others in class. They have learned to go within and concentrate on their own body and breath. Our teachers will be paying attention, however, making sure you’re able to follow along and you’re moving your body safely.

This is my first time ever doing yoga. Which class is right for me?

A good place to begin is with our Gentle or Foundations classes. We also offer a restorative aerial class that is suitable for most people, along with a warm restorative class that is great for those wanting to heal from an injury or just relax. Our teachers are very experienced and trained to offer options that is best for your body. We offer a new student intro package for $59 so you can experience different classes, teachers and styles. Once you start to learn the names of the postures, you’ll be able to expand and try different classes as you desire.

Should I start with private lessons?

We believe each type of practitioner can benefit from private yoga sessions. Depending on experience and what you are hoping to achieve, we offer several types of private yoga sessions with experienced instructors to guide you on your path in a safe and non-intimidating environment. Especially If you have an injury, illness or limited mobility, then yes, private sessions are good options! Some of our teachers have availability on our app. Or contact us, and we can set something up that works with your schedule.

What is the studio yoga etiquette?

Right inside both doors, is an area to leave your personal items. Please remove your shoes and silence your cell phone and/or watch. All doors are locked before class starts. Many students like to unwind or meditate in the minutes before class, so we ask that the practice room remains a quiet space. When setting up your spot, please be mindful of others space. Never step on another persons’ mat or props.  No cell phones in the practice areas.

Can I do yoga if I’m not flexible?

Of course! Gaining flexibility is one of the most important benefits of practicing yoga. Our priority as teachers is for you to gain flexibility and strength to slow the aging process.

Where should I park?

St. Clairsville has free two-hour parking on Main Street. We also have free parking and a back entrance to the studio behind our building. You can access that parking lot by St. Patricks Alley. The Alley is in between Goodworks Veterinary Hospital and the Huntington Bank drive thru. (Goodworks address is 107 S. Marietta Street, St. Clairsville, OH 43950)

Should I incorporate some of your other services into my practice?

100% yes! The concept of RY+W is whole body wellness. Therefore, our therapeutic wellness services are designed to compliment your yoga practice. Our bodyworkers and massage therapists are highly trained and experienced. Please ask our Wellness Advisor, Erica which options would be best for you!

WHAT TO BRING?

What should I wear?

Wear clothing that allows you to move freely and that you are comfortable in. Tops that are more fitted won’t ride up and any type of athletic bottom works best. Layers are always a good option in our mat classes. Tops with sleeves are a requirement for aerial classes. For our hot classes, many wear shorts or a lighter yoga pant and tanks or even just a sports bra for women are acceptable.

What should I bring?

We have everything you need. Many practitioners prefer to use their own mats, but we have some at the studio for you to use, free of charge. We provide all of the props (blankets, bolsters, blocks, straps, eye pillows) you may need. Please bring a reusable water bottle to fill up with our Berkey water filtration system. Most teachers have what props you will need, if any, already set up on their mats. You can use that as a guide. Towels are complimentary in all hot classes.
